Karen is known as one of Washington, D.C’s most connected women. From the Speaker’s Office on Capitol Hill to the offices of leading non-profits, trade associations and corporations, Karen brings knowledgeable counsel, winning strategy and solid experience to bear for her clients.
She serves as CEO of Ripple Communications, a boutique marketing and communications firm she founded in 2005. In a town like Washington, D.C., Ripple brings a unique perspective as a woman-owned firm. Ripple offers a variety of marketing and communications services and some of which include: creating comprehensive and integrated marketing plans, directing messaging and public relations efforts, public policy campaigns, corporate communications strategy development, and brand management.
Earlier in Karen’s career, she spent seven years working on Capitol Hill, the majority of those serving the Speaker of the House in a senior staff role that included communications, policy and women’s outreach. Later, she served as Managing Director at the premier lobbying firm BKSH & Associates, and at firm’s parent company PR giant Burson-Marsteller. From there, she went on to work as a Senior Vice President at MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership where she directed public policy, state relations, and led an extensive year-long strategic planning and alignment process.
Karen holds an M.A. and B.A. in Communication from the University of Maryland.
